The Bar Harbor Whale Museum is Maine’s only museum dedicated to the study and understanding of whales and seals familiar to the Gulf of Maine. All our exhibits were created by students and faculty of the College of the Atlantic and were designed to give you the fullest understanding of these fantastic animals whether you studied biology or not.

Walk through our displays and discover the differences between toothed and baleen whales. Learn how they find food underwater. See our life-size model of a 50 million year old whale, and learn all about whales common to the Gulf of Maine.

All profits from our gift shop go to Allied Whale, a marine mammal research group based at College of the Atlantic.

Allied Whale has been studying whales and seals in the Gulf of Maine for over thirty years.
